Hey guys. This is my first Pokemon composition. Wanted to get some input from you guys. I'm not too if I REALLY wanted it to be a Champion battle or a special character battle... But, yeah, here it is.
BLAM!

This sounds great! I'm trying to think of what game series it reminds me of other than Pokemon...it's hitting Pokemon and one other for me that I can't put my finger on.

Very nice! As far as the composition goes, I really like what you have here, especially that i - ii - III - IV chord progression! The only thing that was weird for me was the transition at 1:53 because it sounded like it suddenly changed keys. But other than that, great work! You have a beautiful melody here as well.

Thanks for the feedback, ya'll. I noticed that about the transition, too. It's like the tonic is being drowned out by the other tones because they are louder and at a higher frequency. Next time, I will try to be more aware of that. Also, does the sound I used for the pattern at the very beginning at some other sections sound a little weird or out of place? I'm trying to think of what other sound I could have used for that pattern to make it sound better.

This sounds great! I'm trying to think of what game series it reminds me of other than Pokemon...it's hitting Pokemon and one other for me that I can't put my finger on. 0:51 - 1:13 sounded a bit like Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes to me. Totally think it was the choice of choir aah's! I like. You did a really nice job with this VP! Larx pointed out the great melody, and I can't get over that intro bass sequence; as you are probably aware, the repeated bass is something that was used (successfully in my opinion) in the Unova and Kalos E4 battle themes, and I think that the inclusion of it in this theme is a great way to associate your theme with the Pokemon style. I didn't think that the bass sounded out of place so to say, but with my headphones on it was still a bit difficult to detect the lower bass ranges. I wonder if there would be any way to tie in the bass used in the repeated pattern elsewhere? Going forward, I would encourage to play around with some background instrumentals to fill the space a bit more. The official tracks utilize a lot of simple background patterns or harmonization to fill the space - music box arpeggios, accented trumpets echoing the melody, and harmonizing strings are all examples. Also, I think you could get a kick out of some light panning, as a lot of the instruments sound center-focused. For example, the gated pattern starting at 0:10 that moves in fifths would be a prime example of a place to look at. In panning that portion, you would allow the instrument to serve not only as an awesome harmonic motif but also as a special effect. Instruments can totally have more than one purpose! And is that DL Pendulus that I hear? I love it so much, I actually used a modified version in my Zephyr Grunt remake. Thanks for sharing! I am totally looking forward to more tracks from you, this is a really great start!

I don't remember what DL Pendulus is. Could you remind me? It's a preset, right? lol sorry.
Thanks for all of your suggestions! I find it difficult for me to decide on background instruments and such, but I think the more I use them and the more I ask others for their opinion on them, the better I will get at implementing them. I will give it a try again in my next project. Also, I've never gotten any lessons on panning and stereo enhancing. I just know that I spent a good part on this project just messing around with the panning. I must not have panned them enough for fear of making an instrument sound more dominant in one channel and not being very audible in the other. I believe there are some instruments that shouldn't be panned at all and some that should be sent equally through the left and right channels simultaneously. I'm definitely still a beginner with this stuff. :P
