I figured I'd make this thread as a place for people who are struggling or just starting out with using a certain DAW. So if you have a question or don't know how to do something, leave a reply and maybe we can help.

This is certainly a helpful thread, so I'm wondering, how does someone who's barely ever touched a daw learn how to use it?

FL is a great program to start with. The way I learned most of what ik on FL is honestly through experimenting. I took me a while but eventually I got the hang of it. We are all here to help if you have any questions along the way.

I realize none of these are exactly cheap, what's the best edition to go with or should I just use this demo version?

As somebody that started with the demo, I can definitely say that it is frustrating not being able to open up past projects. I always got around that by either never closing the problem or exporting MIDI's and re-importing them, which meant that I had to rebuild the project every time I did that and things broke here and there and bleh. Just something to keep in mind, the demo is wonderful for learning but you won't be able to open projects that you create if you save them.

So I'm messing around here, I have a primal dialga midi open for reference, I basically want to know how do I open up tracks and add measures
Ive had these notes for a cool intro going on in my head all day, and I want to know basically how do I start up a track, edit it's notes and edit it's instruments

I've been using the demo of FL Studio 11 and having to deal with not being able to re-open projects which makes things somewhat more difficult to manage. I'd like to be able to edit my projects over a longer time frame to be sure I'm satisfied with them. Kinda like how when editing and revising a research paper, it's good to sleep on it and re-read it a couple more times before whispering to yourself, "...It's perfect" and submitting it. Also, I would like to get more plug-ins, but I don't know where or how to get them nor do I have the money to invest in a DAW. I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say this. Where would I be able to download the software as well as some extra plug-ins and what would be the optimal method of doing so? Thanks xP

Thanks xP Go check out the forums board that I made called "VSTs and such". There you can find a couple of examples of free plugins. Also just search it on google and there's plenty of free ones.
