GTI = Gates to Infinity I don't know why I don't like it. I am trying to figure out why I don't like it.
Maybe its too slow or has too long of intros for me to appreciate? Maybe it's to soft? Maybe I'm biased towards the game not being PMDEOS? I don't know really.
Is there anything that stands out about the music in this game in particular?

Maybe I'm biased towards the game not being PMDEOS? I don't know really. Is there anything that stands out about the music in this game in particular? I, on the other hand, like a lot of GTI's music, but some of the differences between GTI and the first two that might stand out: - It's composed by different people. The sound is necessarily going to be at least a little different due to stylistic choices.
- It's a more high-fidelity sound system. Melody is going to be less focused on one instrument, wider in scope in general, and the instruments are going to muddy together a lot more. (It's also part of the reason we don't get as many super-memorable themes in modern games compared to in the past--the melodies just aren't as clear nowadays.) And, as you pointed out in your post, it might be "softer" in that the sounds tend to be substantially less percussive than in earlier systems.
- The composers experimented a lot more with the tempo, key, and feel in the various "movements" of each tune, in such a way that the "main melody" and associated feel, progression, style, or what have you, is dropped completely for most of the track. Thus, it's not just remembering the melody to one song (as is the case with Rescue Team and Explorers, which had fairly straightfoward verse/chorus/bridge-style components), but several.
- It's newer than Rescue Team or Explorers; you probably didn't play through it twice or three times, either, and the missions worked a bit differently so you probably didn't go through all the dungeons so many times.
- Several of the dungeons had a theme-and-variations sort of soundtrack (Telluric Path, Kilionea Road, and several others all vary on the same theme--as did Theme of Hope, but as the "plot theme" it saw a similar amount of usage to the Time Gear melody variations in Explorers).
- I don't remember some of them enough to be sure, but they seem to have experimented a bit more with "ambient/atmospheric" tracks in some spots, so the melody again wouldn't be as clear.
- Plot events weren't executed as strongly as in previous games (in my opinion), so the associated tracks might be a bit hard to remember. I'd be surprised if you really liked, say, Silent Chasm and Brine Cave and themes like that, because there's not a lot of depth to attach them to. However, it's easy to point to "epic" moments like Mt. Blaze, Sky Tower, Steam Cave, Hidden Land, Temporal Tower, and things like that, because we were invested in the story while we were listening to each song. Honestly, Ragged Mountain alone was enough to persuade me to buy the game after playing the demo, because it really conveyed a sense of adventure (...which fell kinda flat later on), but the plot peaks weren't all that engaging compared to before (or were treated with irony rather than epicness, as in the case of Hydreigon's reveal followed by the whimsical Ochre Quarry).
Mostly reason 3 is why I like a lot of the starting sections to some pieces (eg. Scorching Desert) but then the song switches sections and I kind of trail off until it gets back to a similar style as before.

Thanks for explaining! I can see that was a lot to write. That all does make sense. I might add, I probably came into gates to infinity expecting music like this, Soaring through the Skies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo0xgizRRycI am not an expert on this, but this piece gets the main theme out clearly. It also doesn't take that much time to get to it. However, not comparing the tone of the piece, I remember music like Western Spire in Gates to Infinity: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fBfoM-RMoMIN MY OPNION I am really uninterested until 40 seconds into the piece. The music itself doesn't seem to be bad whatsoever. Maybe I don't like this theme because I remember grinding 10 levels until I could get past this place. Maybe It's even just too slow for my tastes. Comparing these to tracks doesn't really make a point because they are from different games. I just want to show how 3ds music can succeed and fall short. Anyways, talking about #4, I had played explorers of time once with my bro, explorers of sky by myself, and gates to infinity twice. Probably the first time I played gates to infinity I hated it because I played Explorers of Sky RIGHT AFTERWARDS. I actually played Gates to Infinity a second time to try to get its music, not blinded by nostalgia. I still couldn't do it. Even when going through the ending while going up into the sky on a plane still wasn't enough to make an impact on me. This is why I'm interested in finding what was different.

Coaster nailed just about everything that immediately came to me when I read the OP, but nonetheless there are still a few songs from GTI that stayed vividly in my mind. The ones I remember best are Our First Meeting, Come On in to Post Town, Ragged Mountain, Scorching Desert, Great Spire, and the final boss theme. Even some of the less memorable ones like Inflora Forest, Kilionea Road, and Within the Crags of Lament have stuck with me well. A lot of the songs definitely had long intros, and when it came down to it they were usually either a hit or a miss.

I thought none of the music stuck with me. I was wrong I found this one theme at the end of rhythm thief at the end of the game. It definitely sounded familiar somehow. I couldn't stand it sounding familiar. I swear I heard it somewhere. Anyway, I found that the intro sounds similar to this: Ok, not exactly. Anyway, there is some good music in GTI that I should take second looks at. The problem is that there are not that many remixes out there.

I just used youtube to speed up western spire 1.5x speed. I now think everything in GTI shuld be 1.5 speed. everything
Wait, I just heard at least 5 GTI tracks. All at 1.25 or 1.5 speed. All of them were infinitely better with the speed change. This leads me to believe that this ENTIRE GAME was slowed down artificially. Since there were no extensive 50F dungeons you had to deal with, the text and music were slowed down to give the impression that this game was long.

Well, I could also be blinded by my love for speed.
Anyway, 1.25 speed on most themes makes them sound like they fit in with the rest of the PMD series to me. Especially post town.
now to find out how to hack gti and make it faster.
