I have Anvil Studio Kirby and the Amazing Mirror: Dark mind last phase MIDI Kirby Squeak Squad Soundfonts pack
I have no idea how to use soundfonts. Can use the KSS soundfonts to make that MIDI sound like it's from KSS? How?

AS is honestly a piece of crap...you'll need software that supports VSTs so you can use a soundfont VST.

Yes, but you won't be able to load your project after saving it. I'm considering cracking it because greed is stupid and I have no money

At least when considering what sort of things you can do with it. Anyways, I'd suggest you to talk about that via private messages from now on. I don't want any talking here that's basically illegal.

It can be less expensive than a one single instrument so I guess you can see where I'm going now.

I guess, but for a hobbyist who doesn't plan on taking a music career anywhere, it's sort of pointless to spend $300-400 on audio software. I bought my MacBook for GarageBand but it obviously does plenty of other stuff to so I could justify spending that much on it...anything else is out of my reach.

Everything costs a lot of money these days though. Sports gear or game consoles can be just as expensive as DAWs (some even more expensive). Besides, there's a chance to buy DAWs (well, at least FL Studio) with limited features that are more suitable for a hobbyist who wants to do certain type of things and therefore they don't cost that much. If companies would sell DAWs wuith low prices, they wouldn't do much profit and that wouldn't be good business. Greedy, maybe, but everything's greedy these days. I still think that DAWs are quite cheap (I remember that Logic isn't too expensive for example) but that's just my personal opinion of course.

I only paid $100 for Fl Studio personally. That's the cheapest edition that comes with the piano roll editor, the basic soundfont player(not directwave which is at least a 100 times better) You can't record audio. Or audio for single channels (You can render them one by one to a wav/ogg/mp3 file though, just by muting the other tracks while exporting) You also can't put audio clips in the song editor, but that's not a big issue, because there are free VSTis that can handle samples and clips anywyas. And if you ever want more feature, they let you do upgrades, and give you a special price. And there are sales regularly too.( And they keep sending me rebates on my birthday ) That's pretty much how they make their money, since they offer free lifetimes upgrades of the DAW itself. They're using "micro-transactions" as business model. Which is really clever on their part, and much better than how most similar company do their money using questionable tactics.. Hell, FL Studio doesn't even come with a shiton of DRMs, its doing a simple registry check, and they literally give you the raw registry key on the website.. XD They're really pretty cool people all things considered!
