Sometimes, you have a song you want to combine with another song, but you find that they are in different time signatures. One could be in 3/4, while the other is in 4/4, but you want it all to match up to 3/4. So how do you go about it? Would you have the rhythm changed to fit in? Or would you make the time signatures interchange?
There are multiple ways to go about this, but there are some methods more preferred for the feel to the song, so discuss away!

I tend to change the rhythm. In my Sootopolis Zone remix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duwEiG6axIY) I changed the tempo from 6/8 to 4/4 but only with the help of a rhythm change.

In my Mythic Entity composition, I ended up switching from 5/4 to 6/4 in the middle, then back to 5/4 before the loop. What I did was establish a strong rhythm through the 5/4 section early on, then suddenly cut it all out with a slowly descending reverse cymbal and choir. Then I move to 6/4 and slowly start to build the rhythm back through the 6/4 section until it returns to close to the maximum, which is where I abruptly change back to 5/4 in the middle of a 6/4 rhythm pattern, bringing it back in with accompanying orchestral hits. This song was my first ever attempt in having a song with a time signature change, and I really like how it turned out. Also of note: this was my first ever song in 5/4 too, and I'm surprised that it came out the way it did.

Personally, as just a music fan, I prefer hearing them at the same tempo, unless they are sped up/slowed down for dramatic effect. I can't speak for everyone though.

Really, it just depends on what you want. If you want to keep the focus on one particular song in the mix, then keep the time signature of that particular song and change the rhythm of the other to match. If you want to keep the spirit of both songs intact, then you can work in a time signature change. If you want a complete reimagining of both songs, you could always put it in 7/8 time like AlmightyArceus loves doing. But I suppose that's an entirely different beast altogether.
